ABOUT US

OUR CONGREGATION

Hevrat Shalom was established in the fall of 1999 with the objective of creating an eclectic, liberal congregation where members from Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative and Orthodox Jewry might come together to celebrate our shared cultural and religious heritage. Today we are a small, informal congregation offering Shabbat, High Holy Day, and special holiday services, personalized religious instruction, social and adult education programs and life-cycle and pastoral support.

As an inclusive congregation we are dedicated to the principles of Tikkun Olam, tolerance and social justice. We welcome interfaith families and offer a unique opportunity for spiritual growth and learning in a relaxed, informal and comfortable community where everyone may develop and strengthen their individual ties to the Jewish community.

Our Shabbat and holiday services reflect the diversity of our congregation and contain both Hebrew and English text and songs. They have a Reform style and a traditional flavor.  Our Friday Evening Shabbat Services generally include Sabbath evening prayers and a brief Torah study session and interactive sermon with our clergy.

Hevrat Shalom dues reflect our objective to keep member costs low while providing full service synagogue services. Please visit us to experience the warmth and friendship of Hevrat Shalom.
